Problem Diagnosis Solution
My Adventurer 2800 will not turn on The battery power switch is not set to on. Slide the button on the left of the unit up to the ON / green position. Slide up and hold the button on the right of the unit for 2 seconds until the Adventurer turns on.
Unit is not charged / Battery is flat Plug the Adventurer 2800 into the charger via the USB port and connect to mains or vehicle power supply. Check battery charging light is lit to indicate charging. Charge for minimum of 6 hours or until battery indicator on screen shows full.
My Adventurer 2800 crashes after being turned off automatically. There is a known issue with the software not starting correctly if the device is set to automatically power down. Please see Adventurer 2800 Technical Support Bulletin 1 for details how to update the menu software on your device to correct this issue.
My routes, tracks and marks are not being saved when I have finished using the unit. The program is not being exited properly before the unit is switched off.

To save your routes, tracks amd marks always exit the program by tapping the menu button and then the red cross. You can then turn power off to the device.

Routes, tracks and marks are automatically saved if the 2800 is set to automatically power down after a period of time (please make sure you have updated your Adventurer 2800 first - see Adventurer 2800 Technical Support Bulletin 1)

My SD card is not named ADV2800SD as in the instructions. A number of SD cards from the original shipment were not named correctly in the factory. Connect the 2800 to your PC and tap the USB Mass Storage button. On your PC goto My Computer (Computer in Vista / Win 7) and locate the removable drive that contains the folders Memory-Map, Maps and Userdata. Right-click on this drive and select Properties from the menu. In the box at the top of the window that opens type in ADV2800SD and click OK.
I have transferred a map to the 2800 but it will not open, giving the message: Could not open file: "\SDMMC Card\Maps\OS50_R1.QCT" or similar. The map is too large for the device to open.

Maps need to be 400MB or under to open on the Adventurer 2800. For details on how to send maps in sections please refer to the online User Guide.

Please note this does not apply to Digital Map Shop maps, which can be much larger.

I have transferred a map to the device but it does not appear in the map list The map list has not been updated. In Memory-Map on the 2800 tap the Menu and Settings button and then select Maps... from the list. Tap the Refresh button and the map list will be updated.
When I turn my Adventurer 2800 on it comes up with what looks like a Windows desktop, complete with 'Start' button. Core files on the 2800 have been accidentaly modified or removed.

Make sure you do not touch any of the files on the 2800 itself when it appears as a removable drive to your PC.

If you device is displaying these symptoms e-mail support@memory-map.co.uk to arrange a return.

I have put a new SD card in the device but nothing happens when I tap Maps from the main menu. The new SD card does not have the necessary files on it.

Please refer to the online User Guide for details on how to setup a new SD card.

We would recommend you purchase a spare 8GB SD card directly as this is pre-configured with the software and licences and is ready to use.

I have put a new SD card in the device and Memory-Map starts ok but gives the message: "The license for resource 'GPS Features' has not been activated." The new SD card has not been licenced correctly.

Please refer to the online User Guide for details on how to setup and licence a new SD card.

We would recommend you purchase a spare 8GB SD card directly as this is pre-configured with the software and licences and is ready to use.
